Company data in Microsoft Copilot: connectors, agents and Teams

Copilot's advantage is location: it lives in Outlook, Teams, Excel and Dynamics, where sellers already work. Adding company data there removes the last tab switch.

    Three ways in

A Graph connector indexes records so Copilot can cite them in normal chat. A declarative agent adds instructions and tools for a specific job, such as pre-call briefings. A Teams bot or Excel add-in suits bulk work like enriching a list.

Start with the agent. It is the fastest path to a visible win and needs no indexing pipeline.

Fit it to the Microsoft stack

Map your identifier onto the Dynamics or Dataverse account record so enrichment writes back to one field, not five. Use Entra ID for authentication so access follows the same groups as everything else.

In Excel, enrichment by identifier plus country beats enrichment by name every time.

    Adoption details

Sellers use what appears in the flow of a meeting invite. A short brief on the account, three recent signals and one link to the full report outperforms a long report nobody opens.

Log which briefs get opened. That tells you which fields matter before you invest in more coverage.

    Frequently asked questions

    Do I need Copilot Studio?

For a declarative agent with custom tools, yes — or an equivalent developer path. Simple indexing scenarios can be done with a Graph connector alone.

Can Copilot write enrichment back to Dynamics?

Yes, through the connected action, but gate writes behind confirmation until field mapping has been validated on a sample of accounts.
