Company data API: how to get started in an afternoon

Most company data integrations fail on plumbing, not on data. Get four calls right — authenticate, search, resolve, enrich — and everything downstream, including AI agents, becomes straightforward.

    The four calls that matter

Search takes a name plus a country and returns candidates. Resolve takes a candidate and returns one canonical entity with a stable identifier. Enrich takes that identifier and returns the full record: registration details, address, directors, sector codes and size bands. Monitor subscribes to changes.

Build in that order. Teams that start with enrichment end up guessing which record they enriched, which is how duplicate accounts get into a CRM.

    Practical defaults

Always send a country code — company names repeat across markets. Page with cursors rather than offsets so results stay stable while the index updates. Cache the canonical identifier in your own database; cache the enriched payload for hours or days, not months.

Retry on 429 and 5xx with exponential backoff and jitter, and treat a partial record as a valid answer: registers publish at different speeds and some fields are simply not filed yet.

What to store on your side

Store the identifier, the source register, the field-level timestamp and the raw payload. That trio is what lets you explain later why a record said what it said — essential once an AI assistant repeats it to a customer.

Drimble publishes company and property records from official registers across the UK, France, Spain, Ireland, Denmark, Belgium, Canada, Australia, Greenland and India. We do not provide company data for the Netherlands.

    Frequently asked questions

Do I need an API to use Drimble data?

No. Every company and property has a free report page you can use directly. The API and bulk delivery are for teams that want the same records inside their own systems or AI tooling.

    Which countries are covered?

Company coverage includes the UK, France, Spain, Ireland, Denmark, Belgium, Canada, Australia, Greenland and India. The Netherlands is excluded from our company data.
